HISTORY of the BCNBP
- 1970 April : Department of Psychiatry, University of Liège is asked to create Belgian section of CINP. Dr P Janssen and Prof Bobon conceived the BCNP
- 1970 Aug 14 : CINP approves the creation of the BCNP
- 1972 Dec 2 : Provisional committee of BCNP is installed in Liège
- 1973 March 23 : 4th Tienen symposium : first executive committee is installed.
- 1974 March 29 : Liège : approval of the statutes of the BCNP
- 1975 May 8 : Publication of the statutes in the Public Journal
- 1977 Oct 22 : Proposal by S. Vranckx - J. Mendlevicz to extend the BCNP to the biological psychiatry
- 1978 Jan 27 : Liège, approval of the change of the BCNP into BCNBP
- 1979 : Hoechst-prize is awarded
- 1984 : - S. Vranckx leaves Belgium for a post of Ass. Prof. in Bloemfontein - Zuid Africa and later in Windhoek Namibia - H D'Haenen becomes President for 4 consecutive years
- 1987 : H. D'Haenen initiates the lectures on "Controversial topics"
- 1988 : - D. Bobon wishes to retire as Sec. general of the BCNBP and becomes member of the executive board - H. D'Haenen becomes the new Secr. General - The first Lundbeck Prize is awarded
- 1991 : - H. De Cuyper becomes President and reintroduces the "News Letter". - BCNBP travel grants are made available
- 1995 : D. Bobon, H. De Cuyper and C. Giurgea suddenly passed away
- 1996 : Edition of the "BCNBP- News letter" is started again
- 1998 : Initiation of the edition of a textbook of psychopharmatherapy in Dutch and French
- 1999 : Edition of the textbook and start of the training courses in psychopharmacotherapy for registrars in psychiatry
- 1999 : Prof R. De Buck passed away after a painful and lingering disease
- 1999 : BCNBP is 239 members with 3 honors members (R. Van Lommel, S. Vranckx, A. Baert), 4 corresponding members (P. Bech from DK, H. Van Praag from NL, S. Langer from FR, Fl. Holsboer from D.)
